Inclement Weather

In the event of inclement weather, our parish office staff will do our best to keep you informed. View our inclement weather guidelines to learn how weather-related changes, cancellations and parish closures will be communicated.

MASS

  • Weekday / Weekend Mass:  Sts. Peter & Paul Masses will not ordinarily be canceled due to weather conditions. However, in exceptional circumstances, such as extreme weather conditions, power outages or facility problems, it may be necessary to cancel Mass. In the event that Mass is cancelled, a parish-wide text announcement will be sent. 
  • School Mass:  In the event that Sts. Peter & Paul School operates on a two-hour delay or cancels school and Mass is held as scheduled, students/school faculty will not attend. Student scheduled for Mass roles are not obligated to attend. School delays and cancellations are communicated through the school office.

PARISH OFFICE

  • In the event that South Gibson School Corporation/Sts. Peter & Paul School operates on a two-hour delay, the parish office will follow suit and open to the public at 10 a.m. Updates will be posted on the Sts. Peter & Paul Facebook page. 

    In the event that South Gibson School Corporation/Sts. Peter & Paul School cancels school due to inclement weather, the parish office will delay opening and may determine to remain closed for the day. Updates will be posted on the Sts. Peter & Paul Facebook page.  ​

PARISH ACTIVITIES

  • Adoration:  Adoration will not ordinarily be canceled due to weather conditions. However, in exceptional circumstances, such as extreme weather conditions, power outages or facility problems, it may be necessary for Adoration to be canceled or to end early. In the event of a cancellation, a text message will be sent to the Adoration text group. 

  • Quilting:  In the event that South Gibson School Corporation/Sts. Peter & Paul School cancels school due to inclement weather, quilting is canceled.

  • St. Maria Goretti (SMG) Youth Ministry Activities:  
    • Weekday events:  In the event that South Gibson School Corporation cancels school due to inclement weather, all SMG youth activities will be canceled. SMG will utilize the the Flocknote text groups to alert families of the cancellation
    • Weekend events:  In cases of inclement weather, the decision will be made to hold or cancel SMG youth activities. SMG will utilize the Flocknote text groups to alert families of the cancellation.

  • K-12 Faith Formation:  In the event that South Gibson School Corporation/Sts. Peter & Paul School cancels school on a Wednesday due to inclement weather, K-12 Faith Formation will be canceled for that night. Families will be alerted by the parish communication system to alert families of the cancellation. 
      • In the event that South Gibson School Corporation dismisses early on a Wednesday due to inclement weather, K-12 Faith Formation will *typically be canceled for that night. Religious Education will alert families of the cancellation.   *If the weather conditions causing an early dismissal have passed or changed, K-12 Faith Formation may choose to hold classes for families that feel comfortable attending.
